Brien Shea wears many hats in the optical industry. First, he is the Optical Director for Westminster Eyecare Associates and Mandalay Optical. He has spent his career within Massachusetts and Rhode Island in business management positions centered around training and optical growth.

Brien has a strong belief that people matter, results matter and numbers don’t lie. He is passionate about developing employees and using EDGEPro to groom and communicate with his employees. His background as a Regional Manager with LensCrafters taught him, in the private practice setting, the importance of streamlining processes and developing an edge on the competition to keep the walk out rate at an all-time low. He loves to create a memorable experience for both the staff and patients. He was able to grow a single location by $1M only through staff development and specialized sales techniques and no additional OD hours.

In his role with Mandalay Optical, he oversees consulting and operations for the wholesale lab. His objective is to not only sell quality lenses to private optometrists but also to strategize and increase their optical growth. And in Brien’s third role, he spends his time as an Optical Consultant with Uppercut Consulting. He works with ODs and Optical Managers to identify gaps in performance, lost profitability and coaches them into increasing sales and patient satisfaction. He also excels at frame board management strategies, customizing each practice based on the demographics of their patient base. Brien’s knack for selling began in the 4 th grade – where he won first place for selling the most candy bars – totaling 1152! It won him a big screen T.V. – which likely fostered his love of movies!
